Running with the Wolf – Romancing the Wolf

Day 4 release glimpse part 2: Gayle Donnelly

Romancing the Wolf 3DRunning with the Wolf (The Cascadia Wolves)

BLURB:

Running from an abusive ex-husband, Sydney Fuller faked her death, bought a new identity and hopped a bus North to Oregon; far away from her Louisiana roots. Two years later, now living as Abigail Mann and teaching Kindergarten in the small town of Sisters, she thought she could finally exhale and stop looking over her shoulder. But getting comfortable and trusting again

was something Abby was having a problem with. Especially when it came to the tall, dark, and brooding guardian of three of her students.

After recently gaining control of the Oregon territory, the Cascadia wolves needed to protect what was theirs. And as one of the strongest hunters known, Abram Keaton knew the pack children had become targets. Abram became their guardian; taking them to school, watching over them, and delivering the young back to their families. It was a massive responsibility considering the children belonged to his Alpha but as an added bonus, Abram began forging a relationship with the distant but alluring teacher. Chocolate brown hair, wide brown eyes, and a shyness that only made him to pursue her even stronger, Abram found he couldn?t stay away from Miss. Mann. But involving her in his world wasn?t smart and the more he watched her, the more he came to believe she was hiding from something. Or someone.

EXCERPT:

Abby walked through the front door and greeted her landlord. ?Hey Miss Ruth. Can you believe this weather??

?Abby, how many times do I have to tell you, this is nothing. Snow up here is like the sun where you?re from. It?s always around. School let out early??

Abby unwrapped her scarf and shook it by the front door. She walked across the room and grabbed a sugar cookie off of the front counter. ?Yup. I thought I would go take a nice hot bath and crawl in bed with a good book.?

?Now that sounds good to me too.?

Abby spun around only to see Abram standing in the doorway with all three kids with him. Why the hell was he here?

Mrs. Hayney walked out from behind the counter. ?Abram Keaton! Don?t tell me you couldn?t make it through this? If anyone could, it would be you.?

He gave the sly older woman a wink. She knew exactly who and what Abram was and thank heaven for it. Ruth Hayney had provided years of support and much needed cover for the Cascadia pack and Alex had repaid her in kind. He and Abram had refurbished her home after

her husband passed a decade ago and also financed her purchase of the B&B so she could keep a high profile presence in the area. Everyone in town knew Ruth and when it came to the sightings of gigantic wolves and strange goings on, she was right there telling tall tales of mystical creatures and magic within the forest.

The older woman reached up and placed a chaste kiss on Abram?s cheek. ?So good to see you.? She leaned down and brushed the snow from Sawyer?s head. ?And you three?how big you?ve gotten. Why don?t you go and get a cookie from the counter and I?ll see what I can do about a room.?

The kids scampered across the room and Abram was stuck staring at Abby. ?So, a bath and a book, huh? What do you read??

Abby?s cheeks pinked. ?Romance novels.?

Abram instantly hardened, picturing Abby lying in a tub full of bubbles, hair piled on top of her head, reading a sexy story. He walked toward her and rested his elbow on the counter. ?Really??

Abby blew out a raspberry. ?Oh please, Abram. Seriously? I can see your mind churnin? at this very moment.?

Abram laughed. ?You can actually see that? Well, I?ll have to be more careful around you from now on. ?

Abby laughed right back. A pretty tinkling laugh that had Abram?s stomach in a knot. Making her happy felt good. Especially after overhearing her with her friend Charlotte the other day. If Abby was dealing with a bad past relationship, he wanted to show her what a good one was really like.

?Well,? Abby began, ?I was always told my family had some kind of sight. Remember, I?m from New Orleans. That?s where magic was born. Momma said the women in our family could always tell if someone was genuine or not. Hell, I failed that one like a champ.?

?Hell!? Marina yelled.

Both Abram and Abby looked down at the little princess. Her face covered in pink icing from the cookies and her hair damp and curly from the snow. The little mockingbird.

Abby closed her eyes in defeat. ?I give up. No matter how much I say, how many words come out of my mouth, she will always choose to repeat the one word she?s not supposed to say. It?s a gift and a curse.?

?You have no idea.? Abram chuckled.

Silence enclosed them both as they just stared into each other?s eyes. Abram knew he was in trouble the first day he saw Abby but looking at her at that moment, he didn?t care any longer. There was something about the little Southern belle that intrigued him and he didn?t want to wait any longer to see what it felt like to touch her.

He slowly raised his hand and tucked her hair behind her ear. Running his finger across her cheek, her skin felt like warm silk. Abram watched as Abby?s eyelids fluttered and he couldn?t take it any longer. He slid his index finger under her chin and tipped her mouth up to his. Leaning down, he gently brushed his lips against hers. Soft, warm, and plump, he sucked her lower lip into his mouth and gently bit down. Her soft moan took him by surprise but not as much as feeling her hands on his chest. Her acceptance of his touch fueled his need for her even more.

Without thought, Abram dug his hands into her hair and deepened the kiss. His tongue slid inside her warm mouth and once again, a moan escaped her. All rational thought left his brain and he could feel his wolf jump to attention. The hair on the back of his neck stood on end and his muscles tightened under his skin. The wolf liked this. Liked her.

A biting pain suddenly engulfed his crotch and Abram fell to his knees. Breathing heavily and gripping what was left of his balls, he looked up to find Marina standing in front of him, her little hands balled into fists. Jesus Christ. She had punched him in the balls.

?You can?t do that to Miss Mann, Unka A. You not married to her. Momma says you have to be married to kiss so you can?t do that. Momma says anybody tries to kiss me like that, I have to hit them in the zipper.?

Wincing, Abram looked past the little princess and saw the other two standing behind her, nodding in agreement.

He closed his eyes, dropped his head, and tried to breathe through the pain. Alex?s kids were fucking lethal.

EXCERPT:

?Rise and shine, sleeping broody.? Trudy poked him with her foot. ?Wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up.?

One handed, he reached out and yanked her ankle out from underneath her, pleased when she landed on her ass with an oof. ?Knock it off, Trudy,? he grumbled.

?Oh my goddess, I?m way too close to naked fuzz nuts.?

Trudy?s comment and her immediate and hurried rush to get away from him finally managed to make him open his eyes. He was naked?blissfully, wonderfully naked. He?d made love to Gretchen all night long, amazed by how all his imaginings of how they?d be together didn?t manage to live up to the reality. He felt sore in all the right places, happy, replete.

Rolling, he scanned the forest. Birds sang. Bugs buzzed. Leaves fluttered in the early afternoon breeze. The beauty of the scene around him jangled warning bells in his head.

No Gretchen.

Sitting up fast, he scented for her. She wasn?t anywhere nearby. Instead of bothering to put on clothes, he shifted fast. Trudy stood nearby, watching him instead of her surroundings. The girl was badass with the magic, but not so great at guarding.

Then again, he hadn?t bothered to tell her to stand watch.

His bones shifted, cracking and popping as they realigned in a rush of fur overtaking flesh. In moments, he stood on four feet, shaking off the last vestiges of humanity in favor of his beast.

?Ew,? she said. ?That was super gross. Could you not??

Rolling his eyes, he moved to her side, tugging her pant leg with his teeth to suggest she should follow him. She obeyed, only bitching a little. ?So where are we off to? Because toward coffee would be good. I mean, I came looking for you when you weren?t at camp?hard to accomplish in the land of the tree mazes, but pretty easy with a quickie locator spell.?

Charly slammed to a halt, staring up at her.

?What? Coffee? Yeah, great idea, right? Want me to poof us to some Starbucks? Cuz, if that?s what you want?baby, I?m your gal.? Trudy stopped moving when he?d stopped, swatting at a random horsefly.

The scent trail from Gretchen ended abruptly at the creek, suggesting she?d walked in the water itself for a while?which could?ve been coincidence or an intentional way to hide where she?d gone. A locator spell would be rather handy. He continued to stare at the witch.

?I?m guessing you don?t want coffee. Although I don?t speak dog, I can tell you?re giving me a dirty look. What is it, Lassie? Is Timmy down a well?? Trudy smacked her legs, grinning at her own cleverness.

Heart of the Wolf – Romancing the Wolf

Release day 3: A glimpse from Desiree Holt.

Romancing the Wolf 3DHeart of the Wolf (The Devora) by Desiree Holt

BLURB:

Shifter Lia Popescu is desperate to find the book Legends of the Werewolf, her only clue as to what happened to her pack. When she loses her heart to the sexy detective Riley Morgan, she wonders how he will handle knowing the truth about her.

BUY HERE:?All Romance eBooks?|?Amazon?|?Barnes & Noble?|?iTunes?|?Kobo

EXCERPT:

Ever since she?d seen the news about the release of Wolf in her New Reviews magazine, she?d had a feeling in her gut this was where she needed to look. Jamie had credited a lot of her information to a book titled Legends of the Werewolf. Lia had read and reread the notes her great-grandmother had handed to her in those last sad moments. Notes that told about generations past that came here from Romania and grew the pack. This had to be the book. Legends of the Werewolf. Surely there couldn?t be two books with the exact same title.

How many times she?d been told that the legendary book had disappeared some generations back. That book?or the book, as they always emphasized it?was rumored to hold all the details of their pack history, all the genealogy charts of the genealogy and history of her pack. She was well aware it had been lost for years until hints of its reappearance popped up. It was all too much of a coincidence?the mention of this town, Calderwood, and the presence of

the author of Wolf in that place, were like beacons leading her on her search. Not to mention the reference to the book.

If this was the place, if the book was here, she might finally reconnect with scattered members of her pack. She wouldn?t feel so alone any more. Her entire existence she?d had the shifter way of life and the history of the pack drilled into her, along with the need to regain its place of importance again. She barely remembered her parents, gone since she was very young.

Her grandparents had raised her and never let her forget her beginnings or the key to her future.

?That garbage killed them,? her bunica?her grandmother?repeated time and time again when she asked what happened to her mother and father. ?Your father was in line to be the new alpha. He was rebuilding the pack that had nearly been destroyed once before. They couldn?t let that happen.?

?Why not?? she?d asked.

?It?s all about power,? her bunica said. ?He had it. They wanted it.? She spat on the ground. ?To do evil. They are all evil.?

Lia was aware that hardly any members of their pack had survived, and now they were scattered everywhere. The older ones were gone, so it was left to her generation to do this. Her bunica had been intense and passionate in urging her on the journey. Find the history. Find the scattered pack.

?There are so few of us left, copilel miu.? My child. The woman had gripped her hand hard, and ordered her with practically her last breath. ?You must listen to the message. Promise me. It is now your mission.?

?I will, I will,? she had promised.

?And, Lia?? She had gripped Lia?s arm with unexpected strength. ?If you find someone, anyone, and they have the book, make sure they go all the way back to Rica. Remember that. They called him Rica the Strong. The ruler. Anyone else is enemy.?

?Yes, bunica. Rica.? ?

?We must restore the pack. Find the book. The others, the evil ones, will be searching for it, too. It is their guide to destroying those who are left.?

Those who are left. The same message she?d heard over and over from early childhood. The words were like a constant echo in her head.

Find the others.

And then the final message she?d left Lia with.

On this journey, you will find your mate. The one you will bond with for life. The two of you can gather the newest generation together before we are destroyed by the worthless garbage. Don?t let them win. Mate and survive.

Mate.

How could she even think about that when she had so much else on her plate? Was her grandmother crazy?

In any event, she was certainly doing her best to fulfill part of her voyage. She?d taken a leave of absence from her job as a web designer, pulled out a chunk of her savings, and set out on her odyssey. That had led her here. What she needed now was to find out if the book Jamie used was the one she sought, and if the author still had it. Where she?d gotten it. If Lia could see it and read it. Maybe it was in the library, and Lia would have an easy time getting her hands on it. She had to find a way to ask Jamie Volka without raising any suspicions. That?s why lunch was so important. A casual meal, an easy discussion, and she could slip in her questions.

What if they asked her about shifters? What if she was actually going into the field of the enemy?

Don?t be so dramatic. This is the first lead you?ve had. Go with it.

The line finally inched forward again.

She saw Jamie glance sideways at someone, and her breath caught in her throat. Standing to the author?s left and slightly behind her, arms crossed and leaning casually against the wall, was the man someone had whispered was her husband, Mike. She remembered the name from the write-up on the author. Darkly handsome were words Lia would use to describe him. Ebony hair, thick black eyebrows and lashes, and?

Holy shit!

When he looked out to scan the remaining crowd, Lia could plainly see his eyes. They were a rich golden color. Wolf color. She?d bet every cent she had this man was a shifter. In fact, as inauspiciously as possible, she delicately sniffed the air again. Yes! There it was! She hadn?t imagined it. The faint aroma had to be coming from this man.

But what really stunned her was his resemblance to her father, at least to the pictures she?d seen of the man at his age. Was it possible he was part of her pack? A long-lost relative? Was she imagining it because she wanted it so badly?

Now it was even more important she talk to Jamie, but she might have to adjust her plan of action. Mike Volka might not take kindly to a stranger poking into family history. He might see her as an enemy, especially if she was right and he was a shifter. And there was always the chance that, resemblance aside, he was a part of the other pack. He?d know why she was looking for the book. He didn?t look vicious standing up there, a protective sentinel for his wife. But appearances could be deceiving, as the members of her pack had learned with devastating clarity.

She glanced at him again and was stunned to see him giving her a hard stare. He lifted his head slightly, as if scenting her. Or someone. He wouldn?t know who. She?d done her best to hide her wolf aroma with cologne, but that didn?t always work.

?Would you like me to sign that for you??

The musical voice pierced her thoughts and shook Lia out of her reverie. She realized Jamie was looking up at her, a quizzical smile on her face. Hoping she wasn?t blushing in her embarrassment, she held out her book.

?Oh, yes. Yes, I would.?

?And who should I sign it to? Is it for yourself??

?Yes, please. To Lia.? She spelled out her name.

?That?s a beautiful name,? Jamie commented as she scrawled on the title page.

Lia wet her bottom lip. Should she mention it was Romanian? No, she wanted a more private setting. A place where she could ask questions.

WIP Wednesday: Under Her Spell

WIP:?Under Her Spell

Romance the Wolf

SERIES:?Keystone Predators
BOOK: 1

?Are they always like this?? Daphne asked her cousin as they watched Ryder chase after Diego. Even in his cowboys boots he was quicker than the woman, but not by much. She reminded Daphne of the young pups after their first shift. The excitement and adrenaline coursing through their veins. The endorphin high that increased speed and endurance. It couldn?t be much different for a human turned shifter.

Gideon looked at her and shrugged. ?Yeah. She misses her brothers even though she won?t admit it and Diego ended up being a good surrogate. He loves playing along. Probably because he?s an only child.?

?That must make life here?entertaining.?

?Yep,? he snorted.

Blurb:

The daughter of the Sentinels pack and MC Alpha, Cameo Cruz moved across country to escape her pack?and the wolf she can never have. Making a new life, she embraced her freedom and went to school. One partying night with her best friend shatters her bubble of safety, and she?s forced to do the one thing she swore she never would?ask for help.

Quade Rainwater lives for his pack and the life the Sentinels Alpha gave him when he took him in. He?d do anything for them, even cut himself off from the she-wolf he?s loved for as long as he?s known her. When all hell breaks loose and someone puts a bounty on his girl, Quade will cross the country to protect her. Unfortunately for him, he?s the last person she wants to see.

All he has to do is keep her safe from the bounty hunters, the locals, and himself?.

Excerpt:

?Why? Why are you here??

?Do you really think I want to be here?? he asked. ?Do you think I find it fun leaving my home to drive clear across the fucking country to find you? Huh? I don?t want to be here anymore than you want me here, but your fucking father?? He snarled and began to pace. ?He?s losing it where you?re concerned.?

?Well.? She gave a humorless chuckle, turning away from him. ?You can tell him I?m perfectly fine.? She wouldn?t give her father or him the benefit of seeing her fear. She?d take care of the other problem on her own.

?Little girl, don?t start.? He laid his hands on her shoulders, and she shrugged them off. ?Don?t you know you have a bounty on your head??

?What?? She whirled around and stared up at him.

?The other night when you called Hui, Xavier also found out about a bounty on your head.? Indifference seemed to coat his unreadable expression and words. ?There are more coming. They?ll be here by tonight. We need to leave. If I can get you to your dad??

?No.?

?Cameo,? he snapped. ?This is not a fucking game.?

?You?re right. It?s not a game. I will not forfeit my life for some bounty. I?m staying.? She wouldn?t add he could stay and watch over her.

?Well, you?ve got two choices, sweetheart. Come with me or wait to be picked up by the guys who are out for your bounty.? He didn?t blink. He didn?t get angry, nothing.

?My answer is still no.? Crossing her arms, she arched a brow, daring him to say something to the contrary. She played with fire, knowing full well what might happen if she pushed him too far. Quade was not a wolf used to hearing the word no. His nostrils flared. His body tightened.

?Damn it, Cameo,? he growled, while taking a step toward her. ?Why are you being so damn obstinate??

She blew him off and pushed past him, crossing the room to her small fridge. ?I?m sorry if I seem obstinate to you, but this is my life we?re talking about.?

?Is this because I wouldn?t give you the time of day?? Typical wolf. Always thinking with their penis.

?Not hardly.?

?What in the hell do you want from me??

Want from him? She didn?t want anything from him. She hadn?t even wanted to see him again.

In two strides, he closed the distance between them and dipped his head. ?Is this what you want?? He nuzzled her neck and groaned. ?Tell me,? he demanded. ?Do you want me to drop to my knees and beg for forgiveness? To tell you I?ve wanted you since the moment you turned eighteen?? His lips were only inches from her ear. His warm breath brushed against the shell, causing her to shiver. ?You ran away from me.?

?Ran away from you? I left home so I could get an education and be someone better than a thug.? She grimaced inwardly when he flinched and withdrew from her. Quade wasn?t a thug, neither was her father.

?So, I?m a thug now?? He shook his head while clenching his fists at his sides. ?Are you saying when you were on pack lands you thought so low of me?of your father and our friends??

?Now you?re twisting my words.?

?Am I? Didn?t you say you left home so you didn?t become one, meaning we, the members of your pack, are thugs?? He cocked a brow, daring her to say something else stupid. Insert foot in mouth, dummy.

?Look, I didn?t storm into your home and pick a fight with you. So?so why don?t you leave?? Brilliant! Way to go you.

A dark sinful chuckle passed his lips as he pulled her to him, engulfing her in his embrace. ?You never did know when to shut up.?

His lips slammed down on hers in a brutal kiss. He tasted of danger and excitement. Of raw masculine power. Cameo?s wolf preened, desperate to rub all over him and submit to his dominance. He swiped his tongue across hers, and she became a puddle of goo. ?Would you like to know where my mark will go when I mate you??
