Austin?s jaw clenched. His nostrils flared in obvious anger. She waited for him to yell and curse the ground she walked on. Instead, he relaxed face and the anger in his eyes cleared. ?You?re right. You can?t be my mate,? he said sadly.

 

Tess sucked in a breath. All along it was what she had said but hearing him admit it hurt more than she ever thought it would. She opened her mouth to speak but he cut her off.
